On 27 June 2024, CEN/CLC approved through a formal vote the standard EN 18031: Common security requirements for radio equipment. This standard was developed as a harmonized standard for the cybersecurity delegated act of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED). The standard gives technical specifications detailing how the essential requirements in the delegated act should be interpreted (see Table 1). The Commission now needs to adopt the standard for it to become a harmonized standard.
This document gives grid operators an overview of the standard and the consequences for their procurement process.
