Just like in previous years, ENCS is organizing a series of webinars to keep you up to date on cybersecurity developments at the EU level that will affect grid operators and to introduce you to new topics we have been working on in our programs.
During the webinars, ENCS will present a topic and, if attendees want to ask any questions or discuss something, they will have the opportunity to do so.
The webinars are held every Wednesday at 11:00 CEST. Each is an hour long and is open to ENCS members only.
The table below shows the schedule for the upcoming webinars. ENCS members can find more information below. Please, contact info@encs.eu to register.
Date | Webinar | Description |
---|---|---|
18 September 2024 | SOC Charter | ENCS worked with a member on a SOC charter based on the SOC CMM model (see https://www.soc-cmm.com/products/soc-cmm/). As more members are working to improve the maturity of their SOC, we made a template based on this work that can be used by all the members. This SOC charter template is shared on the ENCS website and it was presented in the SOC analysts roundtable. In this webinar, we will introduce the template to all members. |
2 October 2024 | SIEM & IDS – Use cases | ENCS is evaluating how well the sensors in the market can monitor the security of central systems and substations and to compare the current performance to the results from the OT sensor evaluations performed in 2018 and 2020. A minimum set of use cases should be implemented in a SIEM system, which assures the SIEM system covers at least the highest risks, compliance targets, and specific security measures’ effectiveness. These high-level use cases are fed by events from monitored assets, including also security solutions such as OT IDSs. Hence, lower-level use cases such as the IDS ones must be consistent with the ones in the SIEM. We have been working on minimum sets of use cases for OT SIEM systems and OT IDS systems in the SOC analysts roundtable and the OT IDS operations program project respectively. In this webinar, we will introduce both sets and how they work together. |
16 October 2024 | Product regulation update | Update on CRA and RED implementation, in particular the definition of the smart meter gateway. (A consultation is expected in the fall.) |
13 November 2024 | DER security | Distribution system operators (DSOs) are connecting more and more distributed energy resources, such as solar and wind parks, to the distribution grid. In many cases, this leads to congestion during peaks in generation. To manage this congestion, some DSOs are looking to curtail the power from these parks if there is not enough capacity in the grid. They are connecting park controllers and inverters of the DER to their control systems, so that they can request to reduce generation. These connections lead to new security risks. The inverters or park controllers of the DER operator are being connected to critical systems at the DSO, such as RTUs or the SCADA system. This creates new attack vectors into the core OT systems of the DSO. During the webinar we will discuss how our members deal with the security risks that come with congestion management and flexibility features |
27 November 2024 | IDS – Results | ENCS is evaluating how well the sensors in the market can monitor security of central systems and substations and to compare the current performance to the results from the OT sensor evaluations performed in 2018 and 2020. During this webinar we will present and discuss the results from the solutions tested with our members. |
18 December 2024 | Network Code update | Update on the NCCS implementation, in particular the provisional ECII and process list (published 13 dec) and the risk assessment methodology. |
