ENCS took the opportunity to sign up its newest member, AS “Sadales tīkls” (ST), at their annual Strategy Assembly on 5th October in Amsterdam.

ST is Latvia’s largest energy provider, maintaining and developing the electricity network for over one million customers and covering 99 per cent of the country. The signing was symbolic of ENCS’ impressive members and partner growth over the last year – now totalling 24 all together.

Artis Riepnieks, Head of Customer Service Systems Unit at ST, took part in the ENCS Strategy Assembly meeting, where ENCS members from across Europe come together to join forces against fast-evolving cyber threat developments. The Strategy Assembly is one of the ways ENCS facilitates close collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst its members, as well as allowing ENCS to form strategies and plans for the coming years, based on the requirements and needs of its members.

Mr Riepnieks commented: “As grid automation and smart meters are rolling out, the matter of security is critical for network system operators. As Latvia’s largest distribution system operator we at AS “Sadales tīkls” take all security risks very seriously, and we see that, with the evolving digital landscape, collaborative efforts are the way to go. Together with all members gathered under ENCS we see great opportunity to join the effort to provide secure, efficient and reliable service to our customers.”

“We are very pleased to welcome ST to our network”, said Anjos Nijk, Managing Director of ENCS. “With ST we expand our network in the Baltic area, where innovation and developments in cyber security are at a very high level. We are looking forward to a strong mutually beneficial collaboration.”
